2 minute Smokey Eye

This smokey eye is what I like to think of as a "day" look, not too dramatic or intense.

You will need:
  • shimmery champagne colored shadow ( I use Too Faced Natural Eye palette you can find here)
  • dark brown/mocha colored shadow ( I use Too Faced Natural Eye palette you can find here)
  • dark brown eye liner ( I used Nars pencil eye liner in Mambo you can find here)
  • black mascara ( I used DiorShow Blackout you can find here)

1. I use my fingers but you can use brushes if you prefer. Sweep the entire lid area all the way up to right below your eyebrow and to the inner corner of your eye and end of your eyebrow

2. Get some dark brown shadow on you finger, blow lightly on it to get excess off (so it doesn't fall onto your cheek) then using a controlled sweeping motion from side to side, cover the lid area (basically where you feel your eyeball). You might have to do this several times to get enough of the dark shadow on the eye lid.

3. Draw a line from the inner corner of your eye, near the base of your upper lashes, to the outer corner of your eye. Make the line fatter as you get to the outer corner, this gives you more of the cat-eye effect. This line is a very rough drawn line, it does not have to be perfect because you are just going to smudge it anyway.

4. Smudge the eye liner with your finger with very small sweeping motions starting at the inner corner and smudge towards the outer corner.

5. You can also line your bottom eye lid with the eye liner at the base of the lashes, use a light touch. Curl lashes, apply masacra, putting more towards the outer corner of the eye, again to help achieve that cat eye effect.

Robinson Crusoe

Anthropologie blazer, Odille blouse, Abercrombie skinny jeans, DKNY watch

I love books. I particularly love old books. There something about the way they smell and feel that conjures feelings of nostalgia. One of the oldest books I own is Robinson Crusoe from 1885, there's writing on the inside cover that reads "Etta Valentine, December 25, 1885, a present from mother."

What are some of YOUR favorite books?

Minimalism

Forever 21 Beige coat, Forever 21 striped sweater dress, Forever 21 black tights, Steve Madden platform slingbacks, red lipstick is Guerlain Rouge Automatique in #121

I've always admired minimalistic fashion, ie. Helmut Lang. There's something very elegant and sophisticated about sharp lines and solid colors. I like a trendy, youthful dress just as much as the next girl, but simple, clean looks never go out of style. Sometimes less is more. I've been searching for a plain, beige coat for the last month and found a great one at forever21 for around $30. Can't beat that !
Since the colors of my outfit were simple I wanted a bright background. My sister and I were driving in a part of town we have driven in a 100 times and we saw this wonderful, old, abandoned building that we had never noticed before. I love this scratched up painted wall that says "private parking."

fave 3 beauty finds:

One of my weaknesses is beauty products. I could spend HOURS at Sephora and I have. Every now and then I am going to post about some of the great beauty finds that I've discovered, that way maybe I can save you guys some time and money. If you have any requests of what kinds of beauty products you would like to know about in the future please let me know in the comments section.

1. Tarte Natural Cheek Stain in Tipsy : One tube lasts FOREVER and leaves your cheeks with that "healthy glow." I find that powder blushes often times give a harsh matte look.

2. Christian Dior Addict Lipstick in It Pink : A huge pet peeve of mine are lipsticks that have a taste to them; not only does this lipstick not taste like oily berries, it has wonderful shine and pop to the color. All of their shades are so pretty, you can't go wrong.

3. Eucerin Calming Creme : Where I live the air is very dry and that often times makes my skin very dry. This lotion has got to be one of the best intensive moisturizers out there. Doesn't leave your skin feeling oily.  It also doesn't have a scent to it which is another bonus. Last thing you want is your smelly body lotion clashing with your perfume.

end of country roads...

faux shearling coat, Lulu's fishtail dress, Jeffrey Campbell Boots

This is my first post! Basically this blog is a reflection of my journey to find beauty in everyday things. I think we too often assume that we have to travel someplace far or buy something ultra expensive to find it beautiful; beauty can be found anywhere, even in your own backyard. One of my passions is fashion so that will definitely be a reccuring theme.
My sister and I didn't have anything to do so we decided to go for a drive down the road we live by until it ended. The sunlight was just right and it was so peaceful out there.
